Music like this becomes so interwoven with certain periods in life. For me it is when i spent one February on the Greek island of Syros. Half of the island was populated - dotted with quaint villages and little whitewashed houses, all very quiet as it was the off season. The other half had been long abandoned, with occasional crumbling shepherd's huts and old dry stone walls. Huge pillowy swaths of clover covered old terraced hillsides and strange wild orchids peeking out of the arid karst. I was volunteering at an animal sanctuary and on my days off would go wandering across this abandoned dusty landscape listening to this album.
